Free public transport
Free public transport
Free travel for all Lucerne residents!
Public transport is the backbone of a modern and sustainable city. Nevertheless, many people avoid buses and trains because the ticket prices are high. This initiative therefore advocates for free public transport for all residents of Lucerne.
Free public transport would make everyday life easier for many people, especially for families, young people and people with lower incomes. At the same time, it creates a strong incentive to switch to buses and trains more often and to leave the car at home.
The model could be financed, among other things, through parking fees, a city toll and targeted contributions from the public sector. At the same time, public transport is to be further expanded - with denser service times, better connections between neighborhoods and new night bus offers on weekends.
Other European cities are already showing that this model can work. There, the use of public transport has increased significantly, while car traffic has noticeably decreased.
Support this initiative and help make Lucerne more mobile, social and climate-friendly.
